Crostata with Fig & Raspberry Jam

Twenty years ago, when travelling around Italy, I met my friend Anita Anastasi. Several years after we met, Anita and her family emigrated to Australia. Our friendship has continued and we have always enjoyed Anita’s beautiful cooking. Her food is unique to the province of Macerata, north-east of Rome, where she grew up. It is often simple, with select ingredients, but always delicious. This was one of the first dishes she cooked for us and has become one of my husband’s favourites. Anita generously shared her recipe with me, and you! However, she insists the credit goes to her sister Maria Teresa who still lives in her home town, Civitanova Marche.
